BEA proposes Tk 12,40,090cr shadow budget

Economic Correspondent: The size of the proposed shadow budget that Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA), a platform of professional economists, presented for the fiscal 2019-20 is Tk 12,40,090 crore, -- more than double the amount the government is due to place on June 13.

BEA President Economist Prof Dr Abul Barkat presented the budget, on behalf of the association, at a press briefing at the conference hall of CIRDAP International Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday.

In the budget free of foreign loan, the economists estimated the tax income at Tk 10,02,510 crore; of which 69 percent will be counted as direct tax and 31 percent indirect.

Around 81 percent of the total budget estimated will come from the revenue collection.

BEA General Secretary Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed delivered the opening speech.
