Senior Correspondent: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the BNP itself needs emergency steps as the party is in a very crisis.
The Awami League general secretary came up with the comment while distributing leaflets as part of a cleanliness campaign to prevent dengue at Farmgate in the city on Saturday.
“The dengue situation is not out of control. We have strength to control the situation. It is possible to control it through united efforts of all,” he said.
Along with the government, Quader said, Awami League also has taken action programmes to engage people in tackling the dengue situation.
Earlier on Friday, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) suggested the government to declare a state of emergency to tackle the deteriorating dengue situation in the country.
“Dengue has spread all over the country. Experts are saying the situation will continue to worsen. We think the government should declare a state of emergency to face the situation with united efforts,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said after visiting dengue patients at Labaid Hospital.
