BNP lawmaker Harun challenges jail sentence

Lawmaker and BNP Joint Secretary General Harun Or Rashid has filed an appeal petition with the High Court challenging a lower court verdict that sentenced him to five years’ imprisonment in a tax evasion case.

Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge-4 Court sentenced the BNP lawmaker to five years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk 50 lakh for selling a car which was imported taking duty-free facility.

The hearing of the petition may he held on Monday.
