BNP leaders starts hunger strike demanding Khaleda’s release

Senior Correspondent: Leader and activists of BNP have started mass hunger strike in the capital, demanding party chief Khaleda Zia’s proper treatment and unconditional release from jail. 

The programme began at 10:30 am on Sunday at Institution of Engineers in capital’s Ramna. The symbolic strike programme will be ended at 5:00pm.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Dr Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, AZM Jahid Hossain, Ahmed Azam Khan, Chairperson’s advisor Abdus Salam, Habibur Rahman Habib, Joint secretary general Moazzaem Hossain Alal, publicity secretary Shaheen Uddin Chowdhury Anney and others joined the programme.

The programme was scheduled to start at 10:00am. But, the Engineers Institute authority disallowed the function. As a result, the BNP leaders and activists took position outside of the building. Later, the token hunger strike started at 10:30am following the consent of the authority.
