Senior Correspondent: Claiming that there is no democracy in the country even after 45 years of the Independence, BNP leaders firmly said that they will try their utmost to bring back the lost democracy.

To defeat the evil power, they urged the leaders and activists of the party to take a firm oath.

The BNP leaders came up with the statements while addressing a function chaired by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the capital’s Gulistan on Thursday afternoon on the occasion of Victory Day.

Fakhrul said, “45 years have passed but still I have to say with despair that the new generation do not know the real history of the Liberation War. The party in power is spreading a distorted history to the nation in name of the spirit of the Liberation War.”

Citing that the War of Liberation took place to establish democracy and rights, the BNP secretary general said, “This is not that Bangladesh we fought for. The country has been a hate country. Dreams have been shattered.”

Fakhrul advised the party leaders and activists to go through the biography of Ziaur Rahman, late president and founder of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), alongside knowing the real history of the Liberation War.

He urged the countrymen and all of the party leaders and activists to work together for bringing back the lost democracy in the country.
