Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City to get World’s 7th largest data centre

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: The government is taking steps to build a hi-tech national data centre to expedite information flow.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak made the announcement while talking to newsmen during monitoring the development work of Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City at Kaliakoir in Gazipur on Thursday noon.

Palak said Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City is being developed under private-public partnership (ppp) basis. There is a plan for developing 355 acres of land of the city in next 10 years. As part of the plan, three blocks of the city have been given to two developers named Tekno Police and Tekno City. They will complete 20 percent of the work in three years and total work in 10 years.

World’s seventh largest data centre (Tier-4) is being built on seven acres of land. There will be ‘National Help Desk’ for emergency service which will continue its activities for 24 hours, Palak added.
