Bangladesh sends 100 tons food to Maldives

Bangladesh has sent more than 100 tons of food, medicines and medical equipment as assistance for the expatriates who are now staying in Maldives amid coronavirus outbreak.
A Bangladesh Navy ship has already sailed for the Maldives this morning carrying the food items, medicines and medical equipment.
A Foreign Ministry press release came up with the information on Wednesday (April 15).
As per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the foreign ministry along with the Bangladesh High Commission in Male is facilitating delivery of the supply to the Maldives in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic cases being detected in the Indian Ocean archipelago, the foreign ministry press release said here.
The ship carrying the food materials left Chattogram for Maldives this morning and it is expected to arrive in the country within 5-6 days.
Bangladesh Navy, management and relief ministry, directorate general of drug administration, relevant district administration and other concerned authorities as well as some local pharmaceutical companies have worked together to gather the assistance materials for Maldives.
