Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Bangladesh will be Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal) where there will be no hunger and poverty. Insha Allah, we must build our Sonar Bangla. We would never let the blood of the Martyrs go in vain. This is our promise.”

The Premier came up with this firm statement while addressing a discussion at Krishibid Institution auditorium in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina said, “My only target is to ensure that people in this country will not live in shanty and they will not remain homeless. They will know at least how to live better. No one will remain hungry. This is my utmost desire.”

"We want to build next generation in such a way so that they can know the real history of the nation and would love and respect the martyrs and deceased intellectuals, follow their ideology and be patriotic," she said.

The prime minister said the killers of Bangabandhu and martyred intellectuals belonged to the identical group and ideology and they were so cruel that they did not hesitate killing the best sons of the soil and Bangabandhu, who enormously loved his people.

Expressing her firm determination to continue the trial of the war criminals, the Premier said their trial is crucial to keep the country safe from any future disaster like 1975.

She said the patrons of the war criminals should be tried as well so that country`s future is not insecure.

The prime minister sought peoples support to put the country on the present track of development and spirit of the War of Liberation saying, which became visible as Awami League was elected to power for two subsequent tenures. Bangladesh would be able to achieve its desired goal of independence if the pro-liberation forces remain in power, she said.

“We will not allow anyone to play a game with the fate of Bangladesh,” she said describing the country as the role model of development across the world.

Sheikh Hasina also urged all people to know the real history of the country so that they can pay their due respect to those who sacrificed their valuable lives for the sake of the country’s independence.
