Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has warned BNP leaders and activists that ‘befitting response’ would be given if violence is created in name of movement demanding release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
He came up with the warnings while speaking at the council of Awami Matsajibi League held at Krishibid Institution Auditorium at Khamrbari in the capital’s Farmgate area on Friday.
Quader said they are speaking about Khaleda’s jail. We frequently replied that she has been confined being sentenced in a case by the court. (You) make free her through legal battle. Our government will not interfere in the process.
“But they do not obey neither court or law, justice, arbitration. They went berserk and vandalized at the premises of the court to create pressure for Khaleda’s release. They made attack on police and threw brickbats on them, turning the court premises battlefield. Country democracy, rules of law and independent judiciary are not safe if they come to power,” Quader added.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, “I want to clear that we will face peaceful movement with democratic manners and politically. But befitting replies would be given if you create any anarchy and violence in name of movement.
