Ashikur Rahman, a local businessman in Bogura’s Menikunda Lane, has been rewarded with one million taka (10 lakh) on the purchase of a Walton brand freezer under the offer titled ‘Who will be today’s millionaire,’ declared by the local electronics giant Walton.
From July 1 of 2019, Walton has been offering Tk 10 lakh or Tk 1 lakh cash, sure cash vouchers or different sorts of appliances as free like refrigerator, television etc. on the registration of its any model of fridges just after the purchase from Walton Plazas or distributor’s outlets across the country. The offer will be continued till the end of this month.
Under this offer, Ashikur Rahman purchased a freezer from Walton Plaza at Jhautala in Bogura city and then registered the item giving its model number, his name and contact number.
After a while, he received a message of getting Tk 10 lakh award from Walton. Now, Ashikur is dreaming to make his business bigger with the money.
On September 16, Walton authorities handed over a check for Tk 10 lakh to Ashikur Rahman at a function.
Bogura Sadar Upazila Chairman Abu Sufian Sofi, Bogura Police Station OC Bodiuzzaman, Walton Area Manager Aslamul Haque and Walton Plaza Manager Abu Taher Siddiqui were present on the occasion.
Ashikur Rahman said, ‘I first came to learn the opportunity to become a millionaire by buying Walton refrigerators through reading newspapers. Then I have been informed details in this connection in the Plaza. But I could not even imagine that I would really get 10 lakh after buying a freezer with only Tk 26, 990. I'll spend this money on business ’
Upazila Chairman Abu Sufyan Sufi said, "It’s felt good that Walton is a company of our country. All of my home electronics products are purchased from Walton. Its service is good, as well as affordable. Protecting the promise made to the buyers and handing over the money to them, they took a permanent place in everyone's mind.
