Building sealed off as mother-daughter suffering from cold-cough

A building at Rojoni Bose Lane in old Dhaka in the capital has been sealed off as a woman and her daughter have been noticed with suffering from cold and cough for several days.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) hoisted a red-flag on the gate of the building and sealed off to restrict entry and exit of the building on Tuesday noon.

It was learnt that a woman and her mother, residing in the building, have been suffering from cold and cough and different symptoms of coronavirus for last 10 days.

Being informed, police made contacts with the Institute of Epidemiology Diseases Control and Research (IEDCR). They instructed police to quarantine the family. Officials from IEDCR are supposed to visit the building to collect sample of the women.

Moudud Hawlader, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakbazar Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said a 36-year-woman and her 15-year-old daughter have been suffering from cold and cough for several days. Other members of the family informed on suspicion of being infected with coronavirus.

Later, we sealed off the building being instructed by IEDCR, he added.

The OC said we came to know in primary interrogation that nobody came to the family from abroad. It is not immediately clear whether they are infected with coronavirus. They were kept in home-quarantine as part of precautions.
