By-polls to Ershad’s Rangpur-3 on Oct 5

Staff Correspondent: The by-polls to the Rangpur-3 constituency that fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad will be held on October 5.

Election Commission Additional Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman announced the election schedule at the EC secretariat on Sunday.

According to the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is September 9 while the date for scrutinising those is September 11.

The last date of withdrawal of candidature is September 16.

The election will begin at 9:00am and continue till 5:00pm.

HM Ershad died on July 14 this year.

A total of 4,41,671 people are scheduled to exercise their franchise in the election. Of them, 2,21,109 are men and 2,20, 562 women.
