Case filed over attack on Dr Kamal’s motorcade

Staff Correspondent: A case has been filed over attack on motorcade of Jatiya Oikyafront key leader and Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain.

Syed Abu Bakar Siddique, BNP nominated candidate of Dhaka-14 constituency, lodged the case with Darus Salam Police Station on Saturday night.

Selim Uzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Darus Salam Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, “Names of 12 ruling party men were mentioned in the case. Steps will be taken after investigation.”

People who were accused in the case are: Md Islam, convener of Darus Salam Thana Swechchhasebak League, BCL leader Nabil Khan of the same Thana, Badal of Swechchhasebak League, Ward no. 12 Juba Leauge activist Sohel, Darus Salam Thana BCL president Sheikh Rajon, Jewel of Swechchhasebak League, Sheikh Faruk, Shah Ali Thana BCL president Jakir, general secretary Saikat, office secretary Roni, activist Shaon and organising secretary Mofizul Islam.

However, police could not arrest any of them till the report was filed on Sunday evening.

Dr Kamal and other Oikyafront leaders came under attack at the gate of at the premises of Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum in Mirpur area of Dhaka on Friday morning while returning after paying tributes.
