Chandpur put under lockdown

The entire Chandpur district has been put under lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus outbreak. Even, restriction has also been imposed in case of internal movement across the district.

The ban will be effective from 7:00pm on Wednesday (April 9).

Deputy Commissioner (DC), also president of district coronavirus control and prevention committee, Md Majedur Rahman confirmed the news.

He said the decision was taken in an emergency meeting held over prevention of coronavirus.

Entry to Chandpur and exit from it for people and vehicle were banned until further notice. The ban will also be effective for inter-upazila movement, the DC added.

However, emergency services like health and food supply will be out the purview of the restriction, he added.

He further said stern legal steps would be taken if someone violates the ban.
