Charge hearing in BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gatco corruption case has been deferred due to her illness.

Judge Syed Dilzar Hossain of Special Judge Court 3 on Wednesday fixed February 3 for hearing.

Though charge hearing was scheduled to be held On Wednesday, the jail authorities did not produce Khaleda Zia before the court because of her illness.

She is currently undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

On the day, Khaleda Zia's lawyer Zia Uddin Zia, Hannan Bhuiyan appealed to defer the date.

On September 2, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against 13 people—including Khaleda and her youngest son, Arafat Rahman—with the Tejgaon police station; for their alleged corruption while penning a contract with Global Agro Trade (Pvt) Co Ltd (Gatco) for container management at inland container depots in Dhaka and Chittagong.
