Cigarettes worth Tk 22 lakh seized

The Chattogram Customs House on Friday night seized cigarettes worth around Tk 22 lakh at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.  

Acting on a tip-off, customs intelligence officials seized around 1,112 cartons of ‘Esse’ cigarettes from two flights.

Customs Deputy Commissioner Riyadul Islam confiremd this on Saturday morning.

The customs officials recovered 174 cartons of cigarettes from Hafej Mohammad Hasan of Fatikchhari upazila, who reached Chattogram from Dubai by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. 

The rest of the cigarettes were found abandoned.
