City polls: Banks to remain closed in Dhaka

All scheduled banks and non-banking financial institutions in the capital will remain closed on Saturday (February 1) for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation polls.

Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday.

In the circular, central bank’s deputy managing director Iva Binte Hamid said that the Ministry of Public Administration declared a public holiday in polling areas on February 1 on the occasion of the two city elections. Due to the holiday, all scheduled banks and non-banking financial institutions will remain closed in the capital.
