Councillor Manju remanded for 10 days

A Dhaka court has placed Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward councillor Mainul Haque Manju on 10-day remand (5 days in each) in two separate cases filed under narcotics and arms act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal passed the order on Friday.

The court also sent Manju’s driver on a 5-day remand.

Earlier, Wari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Harun Or Rashid produced them before the court and filed petition seeking remand for them.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday arrested DSCC ward no 39 councillor Mainul Haque Manju from his office for his alleged involvement in extortion. Law enforcers also recovered firearms and narcotics from his possession.
