Cyclone Amphan kills two in Jashore

Cyclone Amphan, one of the worst storms over the Bay of Bengal in years, has killed a woman and her daughter at Chougachha upazila in Jashore district.

They died after trees fell on their house due to the strong winds on Wednesday night.

The deceased are Khanto Begum, 45, wife of late Wajed Ali at Chandpur village of the upazila, and her daughter Rabeya, 13.

Officer-in-charge of Chougachha Thana Rifat Khan Rajib confirmed the matter.

Due to the strong winds and rain, the rescue operation was delayed, the OC said.
