DAGs, AAGs appointed before 2017 asked to resign

Staff Correspondent: Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has asked to resign all Deputy Attorney Generals (DAGs) and Assistant Attorney Generals (AAGs) performing duties as public prosecutors in the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court who were appointed before 2017.
The Attorney General called them to his office on Thursday noon and instructed them to resign.
According to a source, some of them have already submitted their resignation letters.
Mahbubey Alam, however, said until the resignation has been accepted they will be able to perform the duties.
Md Nasir Uddin, administrative officer of the attorney general office, said currently there are 67 deputy attorney generals and 106 assistant attorney generals in the country.
Among them, 33 deputy attorney generals and 54 assistant attorney generals were appointed before 2017.
Earlier, the Law Minister made the same call yesterday.
