DNCC, police vow to work to fight terrorism

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam said DNCC representatives and Bangladesh police will jointly work to combat terrorism and militancy.

The mayor said this while inaugurating a day-long seminar titled “Do’s of representatives to combat extremism” at a hotel in the capital on Monday.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) organised the seminar.

Atiqul said, “Representatives can play a vital role in combatting terrorism and militancy as they maintain a good communication with people of all strata of the society.”

The mayor laid emphasis on fighting terrorism and militancy through organising sports and cultural activities saying the repair work of 24 playgrounds in the DNCC area is underway.

He urged the DMP to adopt steps for increasing awareness among students about terrorism and militancy.
