‘Dacoit leader’ killed in Santhia ‘gunfight’

A dacoit leader has been killed with police in Santhia upazila of Pabna district.

The gunfight took place at Shamukjani Bazar on Monday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Sarwar alias Saro alias Shahin Alam alias Ashikh, 36. He was the son of Harun or Rashid alias Haru at Punduria village of the upazila. 

Police claimed that he was the leader of inter-district dacoit gang and accused in a murder case.

Pubna Additional Police Super Goutam Kumar Biswas confirmed the news.

Police also recovered a gun and some local weapons from the spot.

Two police men were injured in the gunfight.
