Deputy tax commissioner dies of coronavirus

Sudhangshu Kumar Saha, deputy tax commissioner of tax zone-3, has died of coronavirus infection.

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday (June 8) night.

Sudhangshu Kumar Saha's wife Manoshi Saha, their seven-year-old daughter Sanjhbati and domestic help are also infected with coronavirus or COVID-19. They are receiving treatment from home.

Syed A Mumen, senior information officer at the National Board of Revenue (NBR), told this to risingbd.

NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Munim expressed deep shock over the death of Sudhangshu Kumar Saha.

In his condolence message, he prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.

Sudhangshu belonged to the 27th cadre batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).

He was found infected with COVID-19 on May 28 and admitted to coronavirus unit-2 of the hospital that day with fever and breathing complications.

Earlier on June 3, a superintendent of Chattogram Customs House Md Jasim Uddin died of the coronavirus infection.
