Staff Correspondent: The shipping service for Dhaka-Kolkata route is expected to start on March 29. A ship named MV Modhumoti will start the journey on the day.
The information was released after a meeting held at the conference room of the Shipping Ministry at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by the Minister concerned Khalid Mahmood Chowdhury.
It is said that under Bangladesh-India Navy Protocol Agreement, Dhaka-Kolkata Passenger Service is being introduced on an experimental basis by BIWTC's own sophisticated vessels by government directives to facilitate the travel of tourists willing to visit Bangladesh-India.
It is further said that BIWTC's MV Modhumati ship will left for Kolkata's from Narayanganj's Pagla Mariander on March 29 through Barisal-Mongla-Sundarbans-Antyihar-Haldia route.
The list of passenger fares is also disclosed. Dhaka-Kolkata cabin rental rates- Family suites (two Persons) Tk 15,000, first class (per passenger) TK 5,000, Deluxe class (two persons) Tk 10,000, Economy chair (passenger per ticket) TK 8,000 and deck Per person Tk 1500.
