Diganta, Islamic TVs` broadcasting stopped

Broadcasting of Diganta Television and Islamic Television, two private satellite TV channels, have been closed down by the government for telecasting the Hefajat-e-Islam grand rally live from Shapla Chattar on Sunday and provoking religious sentiments of the people.

A team of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) along with detective branch of police went to the Diganta Television and Islamic Television office in the capital early Monday morning and shut down the operation of the two channels.

Diganta Television is known as a pro-Jamaat-e-Islami TV channel. More than 500 journalists and non-journalist employees worked in the Diganta Television.
