‘Drug addict’ son ‘kills’ mother in Bagerhat

A ‘drug addicted’ youth has ‘killed’ his mother in Basabati area of Bagerhat town on Sunday morning.

The victim was identified as Rabeya Mallik, 60, wife of Shajahan Mallik.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagerhat Model Police Station Md Mahatab Uddin said police has arrested Rasel Mallik, 32, who allegedly killed his mother.

The body has been sent to Bagerhat Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.

Quoting the locals, Additional Police Super Md Mahfuj Afjal said Rasel wanted money to his mother in the morning but she did not give it to him. At one stage, Rusel hacked her mother indiscriminately with a sharp knife, leaving her dead on the spot.
