‘Drug trader’ killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Tetuibari area of Kashimpur under Gazipur city early Monday.

 

The deceased was identified as Nurul Haque, 25, a drug peddler of Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia.

 

Company Commander of RAB-1 Abdullah Al Mamun said acting on a tip off that a truck is being used for transporting drugs from the area and a RAB team challenged the truck. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on them forcing the RAB members to back fire that triggered a gunfight. One died on the spot and other managed to flee from the spot.


A foreign pistol, five rounds of bullets and one lakh and 70 thousand pieces of Yaba were recovered from the spot.

 

The elite force also seized a truck used for transporting drugs from the area.
