‘Drug trader’ killed in Joypurhat ‘gunfight’

Aminul Islam Kaset, an accused in 12 cases including drug, has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat district.

The gunfight took place early Friday at Bhutgari village of the upazila.

Aminul Islam Kaset was the son of late Shahabul Islam at Piara village at Panchbibi upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Panchbibi upazila Munsur Rahman said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive at Bhutgari village. Sensing their presence, a group of drug dealers opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight, leaving Kaset dead on the spot.

Two policemen were also injured in the gunfight, he also said.
