‘Drug trader’ killed in city ‘gunfight’

An alleged drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Khilkhet area of Dhaka early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman Mintu alias Megha Mintu, 34.
RAB-1 Squad Commander ASP Md Kamruzzaman said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB members conducted a drive in Khilkhet area and sensing the presence of law enforcers, the miscreants fired on them, forcing the RAB members to back fire in self-defence that triggered a gunfight. Later, the bullet-hit body of Mintu was recovered from the spot.
He was a listed drug dealer and an accused of several cases, the RAB official said.
The RAB members also recovered a foreign pistol, bullets and a huge amount of drugs from the spot.
