Haris Chowdhury’s body exhumed to collect DNA

DNA samples have been collected to confirm whether the body buried under the name of Mahmudur Rahman, was of BNP leader Haris Chowdhury or not.
The body was exhumed around 12:00pm from a cemetery at Jamia Khatamunnabiyun in Kamalpur union of Birulia union, Savar on Wednesday (October 16).
After collecting the DNA samples, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue around 2:00 pm.
Savar upazila assistant commissioner (AC, land), and executive magistrate SM Rasel Islam confirmed the matter.
Samira Tanzin Chowdhury, daughter of Haris Chowdhury said that even after three years, my father's death issue is not resolved. He was a national leader, a brave freedom fighter. He should be given the respect he deserves.
Executive magistrate SM Rasel said that the body of Mahmudur Rahman (Haris Chowdhury) has been exhumed from the grave as per the instructions of the High Court following the writ petition of Haris Chowdhury's daughter. The next steps will be taken after the direction of the court.
