The election commission (EC) hasn’t submitted the election affidavits of Lakshmipur-2 constituency MP Kazi Shahidul Islam Papul to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) though four months have been passed.
Even, ACC didn’t get affidavits of his wife Selina Islam (member of the parliament for women’s reserved seat) from the EC.
Earlier, on March 16, the watchdog issued letter to EC seeking details of MP Papul and his wife Selina’s expenditure on elections, wealth statement, educational certificates and other documents. Later, on June 18, the ACC sent letter again seeking election affidavit of Paplu and his wife.
Wishing anonymity, a top official of ACC said, ”EC has issued letter seeking documents of Paplu. But the documents are not found yet. That’s why investigation against him is being hampered.”
ACC public relations officer (director) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said, “Investigation is underway regarding the lawmaker Papul. Sending letter to various organization is one kind of routine work of ACC. But, I have no idea about the documents of EC.”
