Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has extended the lockdown in capital’s East Rajabazar, considered a Covid-19 red zone, for more seven days.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam declared the extension on Tuesday morning after visiting the area.
The 14-day lockdown in the capital's East Rajabazar has been extended for another week as it has not brought positive results to limit the spread of the infection, sources said.
East Rajabazar was the first area to be locked down as part of the red zone-based lockdown measures announced by the health ministry after an upsurge in coronavirus infections.
Atiqul Islam urged the city-dwellers not to keep virus protective equipment everywhere and keep them with household wastes.
The government will supply three lakh special bags to keep protective equipment from today (June 23).
If protective equipment like mask, glove, etc are found with household wastes, the cleaners will not collect wastes from their houses from July 7, he also said.
