Ex-president Abdur Rahman Biswas dies

Senior Correspondent: Former president Abdur Rahman Biswas has died of old age complications. He was 91.

He breathed his last around 8:40pm on Friday.

BNP chairperson's press wing official Shairul Kabir Khan, quoting Biswas's son Mahmudul Hassan,   confirmed the news to risingbd.

He said, "The former president suddenly fell sick on Friday evening. He was rushed to United Hospital in the capital. There he breathed his last while undergoing treatment."

Abdur Rahman Biswas, born at Shayestabad in Barisal on September 1, 1926, was the 11th President of Bangladesh during 1991 to 1996, the tenure of Bangladesh National Party (BNP).

 

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and the party's secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock over the departure of the former president.
