FM seeks China’s support to end Rohingya crisis

Secretariat Correspondent: Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen solicited China's support to convince Myanmar to resolve Rohingya crisis.

Momen sought the support when Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zhang Zuo paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister at his office on Tuesday.

Later, a meeting between them was held to discuss Rohingya repatriation.

During the meeting, Momen sought China’s support so that Myanmar takes back their nationals from Bangladesh following a speedy process who fled to the country since August 25, 2017 amid military crackdown against them in Rakhine State.

The Chinese Ambassador shared the experience he gathered from his recent visit to Rohingya camp and laid the emphasis on strengthening communication channels between Bangladesh and Myanmar for finding solution to the Rohingya crisis.

The Foreign Minister requested the Chinese envoy to implement the agreements and decisions reached at leaders' summit in the past in a quick process.

The Chinese Ambassador gave assurance to intensify his efforts for the speedy implementation of cooperation projects.
