Fake Covid-19 certificates: 4 sent to jail after remand

A court in Dhaka sent the four members of a fraud ring, who were arrested for selling fake Covid-19 certificates, to jail on completion of their remand.
Sub-Inspector of Mugda Police Station Foisal Munshi, also the investigation officer of the case filed over the incident, produced the accused before the court on Saturday (June 20) on completion of the three-day remand and appealed to the court to keep them confined in jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order following the appeal.
The accused who were sent to jail are Fazal Haque, 40, Sharif Hossain, 32, Jamshed, 30, and Liakat Ali, 43.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas granted three days remand each for the four accused following a hearing in this regard on Tuesday (June 16).
The members of Rapid Action Battalion detained the four members of a fraud ring for allegedly selling fake Covid-19 certificates in Dhaka’s Mugda area around 4:30 pm on Monday (June 15).
The elite force, in the course of its drive, also seized several fake Covid-19 certificates and equipment used for manufacturing the certificates.
