Ferry service on Shimulia-Kathalbari route halted

Ferry service on Shimulia-Kathalbari river route in Munshiganj has been suspended due to dense fog.

The ferry service remained halted since 6:00am on Thursday to avert accident.

Confirming the matter to risingbd, Md Shafikul Alam, deputy general manager (commerce) at the Shimulia ghat of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), said the ferry service on Shimulia-Kathalbari river route was suspended today at 6:00am due to dense fog.

Five ferries were stuck in the middle of Padma river and around 300 vehicles were waiting at the both sides of ferry ghat to cross the river, he said.
