Ferry services disrupted on Shimulia-Kathalbari route

Munshiganj Correspondent: Strong current due to rough weather continued disrupting ferry services on Shimulia-Kathalbari route on Friday, inflicting miseries to passengers.
Md Nasir, deputy managing director of Shimulia Ghat of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) confirmed the matter on Friday noon.
Only four out of 16 ferries are operating the service right now. As a result, thousands of passengers faced ordeal from Friday to cross the river route.
According to the deputy managing director of BIWTA, two small ferries named Camellia and Faridpur left Shimulia Ghat this morning but returned to the Ghat due to strong current on Padma River. Later, one ferry managed to reach Kathalia after two hours efforts.
