Five-year-old girl raped by luring for chocolate

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: A quinquagenarian allegedly raped a five-year-old girl by luring her for offering chocolate in Rangpur.

The incident took place at Kartik Munshipara village under the city’s ward no. 8 on Wednesday afternoon.

Police have already arrested the accused Mozammel Haque, 55, over the incident.

The victim was admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital for medical test.

According to police and victim’s family sources, the girl was playing outside home on Wednesday noon. Neighbour Mozammel Haque took her in his room by luring for offering chocolate and raped. After hearing the girl’s screaming, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her. Later, she was admitted to  Hospital.

Police arrested Mozammel on the day.

AKM Nazmul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Haraghachh Poice Station under Rangpur Metropolitan Police, said, victim’s uncle (maternal) filed a case in this connection. The girl was admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital for medical test around 8:30pm on the day. The accused was sent to jail through court.
