Flood hits 13 upazilas in Sylhet

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: A total of 13 upazilas of Sylhet district have been affected by the flood due to incessant rains and onrush of upstream water.

As many as three lakh people have been affected by flood in the district.

The Surma, Kushiara, Manu, Khoai and local rivers are flowing above the danger level in many points.

Some 995 houses were completely damaged and a total of 6,556 more homesteads were partially damaged by the flood, said acting DC of Sylhet Mir Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman.

The authorities have opened 190 shelter centres in the district while 51 families have taken shelter in two shelter houses.
