Fougia asked to refrain from joining Viqarunnisa

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has asked the newly-appointed principal Fougia Rezwan of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College to refrain from joining the workplace until 11:00 am tomorrow (Tuesday).
Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta of the court concerned has been asked to inform Fougia Rezwan about the direction.
The court also set Tuesday (September 17) to pass an order on the writ petition filed challenging the legality of appointment of secondary and higher education directorate official Fougia Rezwan as the new principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Khairul Alam came up with the order on Monday. Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond stood for the writ petition.
Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the writ petition this morning.
Advocate Eunus Ali Akond told the HC that: “The managing committee of an educational institution generally appoints principal of the institution as per the law. But the government has appointed the principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in violation of the existing law. For this, I have filed the writ.”
The government yesterday appointed secondary and higher education directorate official Fougia Rezwan as the new principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College.
Fougia has been serving as the principal of Sabujbagh Government College.
