Four Gazipur rapists remanded

A Gazipur has placed the four friends, who came to live on Facebook after allegedly raping a teenage girl at a birthday party at Nayanpur of Sreepur upazila, on a three-day remand each.

Judges of Gazipur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal and Judicial Magistrate Court separately passed the order on Tuesday.

Gazipur court’s Inspector Mir Rakibul Islam confirmed the news.

The alleged rapists are Ahsan alias Hassan, 16, Sharif Hossain, 18, Imran Hassan Sujon, 19, and Sharif Uddin Mollah, 20.

Of them, Ahsan alias Hassan was remanded by Judge MLB Mesbah Uddin Ahmed of Gazipur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal while the other three remanded by Judge Mohammad Iqbal Hossain of Judicial Magistrate Court.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested them conducting drives at different places in Gazipur and Mymensingh.

According to RAB, the incident took place on January 15.

The victim was given food laced with sedatives and the four took turns to rape her.

It came to the fore after a video clip went viral on Facebook where the suspects were seen saying, ‘Hello friends, we might be inside jail tomorrow. So, there’s a little chance to meet you again.’

The victim’s mother filed a case over the incident with Sreepur Police Station on January 16 and sought RAB’s help in this regard.
