Garments workers stage demo in Shyamoli

Garments workers are demonstrating on Mirpur Road in Dhaka’s Shyamoli demanding arrears and bonuses from their employer.

Workers of a local garment factory in Shyamoli took to the streets around 10:00am, causing huge traffic congestion in the streets stretching from Gabtali to Farmgate and adjacent roads. Vehicular movement on the roads is nearly blocked.

Confirming the matter to risingbd, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station Abdul Latif said, “We are trying to negotiate with the protesters to free the road. Additional police members have been deployed in the area to prevent chaos.”
