Gas prices rise, effective from July 1

Special Correspondent: The government has raised gas prices at consumer level which will be effective from July 1.

After the price hike, the single burner will rise to Tk 925 per month from Tk 750 while the double burner to Tk 975 from Tk 800.

The announcement was made in a press conference at Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) office in the capital's Karwan Bazar on Sunday afternoon.

BERC Chairman Monowar Islam and all the commissioners were present in the press conference.

The prices of gas used in industry, power generation, captive power, fertilizer, tea garden, hotel, restaurant, small cottage industry and CNG-run vehicles will also raise due to the price hike.

Earlier, the gas prices were raised at consumer level in 2017.
