Girl gang-raped on way back from mahfil

A case was filed in connection with the gang-rape of an 18-year old young girl while she was on way back from mahfil held in Betagi area of Barguna district on Tuesday (January 21).

The gang-rape victim’s mother filed the case with the Betagi Police Station accusing three people on Wednesday.

The accused are- Sagor, 18, Nayeem Hossain, 18, and Nayeem, hailing from Hosnabad village of Betagi upazila.

Victim’s mother said Sagor had been eve-teasing her daughter for many days. On Tuesday last, her daughter went to attend mahfil in the Betagi area but she was gang-raped in the evening by Sagor and his two other friends while returning from mahfil.

Hearing the screams of the girl, locals rushed to the spot and recovered her.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Betagi Police Station Md Kamruzzaman Mia said, “The victim’s mother filed a case with the police station in this connection. We are trying to arrest the accused.”
