Global death toll from coronavirus reaches 37,780

The global death toll from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 37,780.

In the USA, the death toll has risen to 3, 148 and number of infected people has risen to 1, 63,148.

A total 11,591 died in Italy, 7,716 in Spain, 3,304 in China, 3,024 in France and 2,757 in Iran.

In Spain, another 6,400 cases were confirmed on Monday, the lowest increase in new cases for a week. The total of deaths reached 7,340 after 812 new fatalities.

It comes as a national lockdown expanded to instruct non-essential workers to stay home for two weeks.

The US has more than 163,000 confirmed virus cases and over 3,000 deaths.

New York City is the worst-hit place in America, with 914 confirmed fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University.
