Govt issues no directive to shut garment factories

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said the government has issued no directives to shut garment factories. Owners can operate their factories following health regulations issued by the government if they want.
The Minister also said garments owners will be given loan with 2 percent interest, not donation.
The Commerce Minister told this to the reporters after a meeting over coronavirus impacts on country’s economy held at the ministry’s conference room on Wednesday.
Prime Minister has recently announced 5,000 crore fund for export sector.
When asked about how businessmen will get benefits from the fund, Tipu Munshi said garments factory owners will be given loan with 2 percent interest, not donation.
In reply to another question, he said we discussed in the meeting the problems and the facilities exist. We will take decision after analyszing the issues.
