Graft case proceedings against Moudud will continue

Staff Correspondent: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a review petition filed by BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed against its earlier order which upheld the High Court directive clearing the way to continue the trial proceedings of a corruption case.

A bench of the Appellate Division  headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain dismissed the review petition on Sunday.

On May 14, the apex court upheld a High Court order that cleared the way to continue the trial proceedings against Moudud.


Earlier on April 8, the High Court scrapped Moudud’s plea to impose a stay on the graft case proceedings.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on September 16, 2007, for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 7.38 crore and concealing information about wealth of Taka 4.40 crore more in his wealth statement.
