Green Line pays Tk 5 lakh more to Russel

Staff Correspondent: Green Line Paribahan today paid Tk five lakh more to Russel Sarker, whose left leg was severed after getting crushed by one of its buses in the capital.

Earlier, the authorities of the transport company paid Tk five lakh to Russel.

The authorities of the transport company handed over a cheque for Tk five lakh to Russel through High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader on Monday.

The bench ordered the transport company to pay the remaining Tk 40 lakh in different installments (Tk 5 lakh per month).

Following the High Court order that directed the transport company authorities to pay Tk 50 lakh to Russel as compensation, the authorities has continued to pay the remaining money to Russel in installments.

Russell, a former private car driver, was seriously injured after his was hit by a Green Line bus on Jatrabari's Mayor Hanif Flyover on April 28, 2018.

Doctors had to amputate one of Russell's legs in order to save his life. The court ordered the authorities of Green Line to pay for the expenses of the treatment of his other damaged leg.
