HC issues rule on ensuring security of judges

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned why it will not give directives to ensure security of the judges in the courts across the country.
The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader came up with the rule after hearing a writ petition submitted by Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Ishrat Hasan on Wednesday.
Earlier, the High Court wanted to know what steps have been taken to ensure security of the judges, lawyers and officials in the courts across the country in light of the incident of an accused being stabbed to death by another in a courtroom in Cumilla on July 15.
The HC also enquired about steps taken against those who were in charge of the security at the Cumilla Additional District and Sessions Judge’s court where the incident took place.
The SC lawyer in the writ petition sought directives from the HC on the authorities concerned of the government to take proper security measures for the judges and the courts on July 16.
