Illegal handsets being disconnected

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is going to disconnect illegal handsets from mobile networks.

A press release sent by BTRC revealed the news on Sunday.

Earlier on July 29 last year, BTRC published an advertisement requesting countrymen to verify mobile handsets through checking IMEI before purchase and to reserve money receipt.

Later, on February 27, BTRC issued new instructions requesting to be aware of mobile handset sale and purchase.

According to the instructions, mobile handsets connected with the country’s mobile network since August 1 last year would be disconnected through national equipment identity registrar (NEIR).

How to check legality of your handset

Type KYD>space<15-digit IMEI and send to 16002. You will get an SMS whether your handset is legal.

Besides, you also can check IMEI dialing *6#.
